Our Mission Statement
Mother of Mercy Montessori, as a family of families, aims to foster the spiritual, emotional, and intellectual development of each child.
We do this by creating a nurturing environment centered on the belief that God our Heavenly Father lovingly creates each one of us and endows each child with particular gifts and talents. The education we offer and the formation we provide is designed to stimulate the child’s natural curiosity and yearning for knowledge through experiential learning.
Our mission is to help each child achieve his or her full potential through spiritual, physical, emotional, social, and creative development in union with the Triune God.
Our Vision Statement
Cherishing each child as a unique and irreplaceable gift. Instilling the virtues and values that build a civilization of love.
Nurturing Belize’s next generation in a graced-filled Catholic Montessori culture.
The four pillars of Mother of Mercy Montessori
Eucharist
The Eucharist is the “source and summit” of the Catholic Church. This gift of Jesus Christ’s Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity is at the heart of every success of Mother of Mercy Montessori.
As a Catholic institution, we see the love that comes forth from the Blessed Sacrament uniting our diverse community, and as an essential gift fostering a civilization of love.
Therefore, every child at Mother of Mercy Montessori spends a few precious moments with Jesus in the Eucharist every day. Moreover, since Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is essential to the children’s work, they develop a relationship with and fall in love with Jesus, the Good Shepherd.
Culture
Culture is cultivated by the human person and forms the persons who are a part of it. Mother of Mercy Montessori embraces everything that is true, good and beautiful in Belizean culture, and fosters it in the lives of the children who are a part of the community.
As an autonomous institution under our Lord Jesus Christ, and in harmony with the rule of Belizean law, Mother of Mercy Montessori operates in accord with the principle of subsidiarity, and acknowledges the legitimate independence of each child.
They are each guided by a virtuous and moral life to be free and creative in their expressions of the Catholic faith and all that is beautiful in Belizean culture.
Montessori
Mother of Mercy Montessori is committed to becoming an AMI Montessori institution.
Guided by this most internationally recognized standard of Montessori, Mother of Mercy Montessori seeks the highest standard of training and materials, while appreciating the dignity of each and every child in the environment.
The Montessori method fosters rigorous, self-motivated growth for children and adolescents in all areas of their development—spiritual, cognitive, emotional, creative, social, and physical.
Mercy
At Mother of Mercy Montessori, our relationships are not only guided by justice and exchange, but also generosity, compassion, and mercy.
This is made evident in the dedicated and generous service of the guides with each child, and the parents’ involvement and solidarity in the religious practices and community life.
It is also lived by taking to heart the Catholic Church’s preferential option for the poor. While fostering a civilization of love, Mother of Mercy Montessori celebrates the group of sponsors who make it possible to maintain at least 50% of the community who are in financial need.
